Painting update

The closets upstairs were looking pretty bad. 30 years with no (or very little) fresh paint, lots of marks and dings...and dirt. This is one of those things that we sooo didn't want to do. I mean, who likes painting closets? No one, that's who. But it needed to be done and this was the time to do it. Likelihood of ever painting the closets in the future with 2 kiddos and all of our belongings back upstairs and everything else remodeled and completed? Yeah, zero. So with a sigh I grabbed the off the shelf white paint (we're using no-VOC paint, by the way, so mama is safe and sound to swing these brushes around) and attacked the guest room closets last night. We had already painted all of the trim in here, and no crown moulding in closets means you also have to edge around the ceiling, on top of all of the corners and trim. Needless to say I used my brush more than the roller and spent 52 years completing the first coat in the first closet. Seriously, it was ridiculous. N painted an entire room in the same amount of time.
These photos do them no justice, but ahh, now they are fresh and stark white. Thank goodness. 5 closets upstairs x 2 coats each = 10 coats. I completed 3 last night. Only 7 more to go, yay!!! #sarcasm

In other painting news, the first bit of color went up in the hallway! (By the way, quick lay of the land...I was standing at the double doors that lead you into the main upstairs hallway when I took this pic. Behind me are the balconies to the foyer/front door and living room, then the stairs. Guest room + bath doorway is on left, A's room straight ahead, nursery on right...girls' bath is between their two bedrooms, accessed from both.)
This was a big deal, as if we really liked the color we planned to continue it thru the double doors that lead to the stairs, throughout the vaulted foyer, and into the living room on the main floor. It would end up being our main paint color for the common areas of our home. It's SW Perfect Greige.
We've gotta get the attic fan cover back on. That giant hole creeps me out.

An odd angle, but this photo below is a pretty good color representation.
First impression: we love it. Good news for our foyer and main floor painting plans later this year. In the pic above, if you ignore the door that only has primer on it (the only one we reinstalled so that we could get the nursery where A is currently sleeping closed off for bedtimes and dust purposes) and the fact that we don't yet have vent covers or door trim (ha, the to do list remains lengthy), I think the wall color looks pretty snazzy up against the painted crown moulding and fresh new ceiling.

Sink faucets and shower/bath fixtures arrived yesterday. We ordered the exact ones we put into the bath remodel in the old house. :)

By the end of week, I have have have to choose/design/order the following:
Toilets
Sinks
Kitchen faucet
Vanity pulls/knobs
Stair carpet
Girls bath light fixture for shower/toilet area
Girls bath paint color (might adjust/change it)

No idea how I'm going to cross those all off. Here's hoping a visit to the plumbing supply store this morning takes care of a couple.

Finally, looky here, we have proof that I'm not always just standing around with my iPhone documenting the work of others.
Photos of 8-month pregnant mamas in baggy painting clothes contorting themselves into a small closet with a paintbrush...they aren't pretty. This is the only one I'm posting. Yiiikes.

Somebunny wants breakfast, better run. Xoxo!
