Insulation and the stairs "before"

Along with wall priming and a dozen other tiny details, new insulation went up in both baths today.
Not the most exciting of updates, but an important one, especially in the girls' bath where the wall behind the tub is the outside of the house. The original insulation wasn't in terrible shape, but it did have a little bit of mold and was 30 years out of date in regards to R values and actual insulating capabilities.
We thought it would be pretty silly to have these walls sitting open and not take the opportunity to bring them into the 21st century. After all, they hopefully won't be open again for another 3+ decades. Install, with a staple gun and buzzed blonde handyman, is a snap. I think the next step is stapling in a plastic vapor barrier on top, then it will be ready for cement board and tile.

Update: plastic + tape vapor barrier, check! He's so speedy. And my HGTV watching is finally paying off. Vapor barrier, hehee, such fancy words.
Side note: we're holding off on insulation right around the shower fixtures until the plumber raises the shower head ~6 inches. Were people really that much shorter in 1982? Or perhaps they just didn't care about rinsing the very tops of their heads. Whatevs.

Here are a couple shots taken during demo last weekend that show what it looked like before. You can kinda see the mold at the bottom.
(Also, that vanity! Already forgot how dingy they both looked before their royal paint treatments this week.)
We were moving some furniture around  today (story of our lives lately, everything we own is in a room where it actually doesn't belong) and temporarily removed the baby gate. I took the opportunity to snap a few Before pics of the stairs and foyer. (Someone else took advantage of said opportunity, too, as you can see.) Oh, and by "we" were moving furniture I of course mean my lovely husband and my cousin were moving furniture. I was, uhh, supervising.
How fun to soon see this with a printed, low pile (and "tighter" installed) carpet. And sometime later this year, surrounded by creamy white trim and paneling, greige paint on the walls, and a fun new chandelier.
And even further down the road, hardwoods on the main floor and maybe a metal spindle of some kind?
Can't wait.

And finally, an It's Almost Bedtime And I'm Trying To Drink This Milk And Watch These Cartoons, Mom, Leave Me Alone Already pic. Just because.
Xoxo.
