Patient punkin

Spent 3 hours this morning waiting on my car at the dealership. This one? Patient as can be. She charmed everyone at the dealership, Starbucks, and everywhere in between.

Library morning

Morning at the library for music time/story time, then toys and books in the kids section.

(She found a book about the movie Cars. Why am I not surprised.)

Happy hump day. ;)

Switch

Big in little's seat and little in big's. They're looking so much alike these days, maybe no one will notice. ;)

Sitting room progress

Nothing like knocking out a room in one week. Today we finished our final painting, pulled up the plastic, and cleaned. Time for baseboards and trim, then we're done!

It was fun de-yellowing the room, piece by piece, with every coat of primer (including tinted primer for the top half of the walls, new for us). Several progress shots:
Decided the keep the ceiling medallion, as it is original to the house. Ugh was it annoying to paint, though.
Bye bye dull goldenrod.
The step stool, always an attraction.
NAVY!
After everything was primed, we worked from the top down, finishing the ceiling, then crown, then walls, then wainscoting, two coats each.
Once we cleaned up, trim started. We replaced all baseboards, window trim, and doorway trim.
Tomorrow N will finish the trim and we will patch all the nail holes, caulk, and do paint touch ups. Then installing the rest of the light fixture (he has the bracket up, just removed the fixture while we were painting) and furnishing.

I love the result of our upstairs project, but man, a contained space where we can cross off each to do quickly is so so nice. It actually makes the process, not just the result, enjoyable. ;)

Back at it

And just like that, the next project begins. The dining room space, which will actually be a sitting room.
Chandelier down and donated. Trim off and cut up and thrown away. Plastic up (and down). Popcorn soaked and scraped!
Our list for this room:
Scrape ceiling, patch, sand, paint
Find and install new semi flush light fixture
Patch and sand walls, prime, paint
Replace door frame and window trim, baseboards
Replace all outlets and switches, plates
Finishing touches like caulking and maybe painting the ceiling medallion and vent covers

Fun fun fun!

Deliveries

It's been a fun week of deliveries. First, the shutters for the office and dining room.

After:

After:
They add so much "finish" to the spaces. Well, at least the office. ;)

Speaking of, the furnishing of the office is coming along. Light fixture was installed this week and my organization of 10 years worth of paperwork is 1000% complete. Still a few small decor things I'm working on, but it feels great to be done-ish.

The second delivery is our new mattress. Sprung for a Tempurpedic! And since pics of a new mattress aren't very exciting, here are a few of A climbing the old one. She called it her mountain.

Happy hot Sunday!

Walkin through the woods

(Studying bugs.)
When we woke up and realized it wasn't already a thousand degrees outside, we threw on scrubby clothes and bolted to the park. Pool on the agenda this afternoon it the rain holds out!

Xoxo.
