Girls weekend

Missing daddy but enjoying our lazy girls weekend at home. A few pics...

I got out the bumbo chair yesterday. Little was NOT a fan. She had this pathetic little look on her face the entire two minutes I had her in there.
On the other hand, Big loved it.

Those pics of EJ remind me...someone has found her hands. She is always clutching them to her chest or trying to stuff them into her mouth.
(Looks like she's praying! Precious.)

Sleepy morning eyes.

Big morning smiles.

Lots of water table time. We have giant dirt patches in the yard where we've removed the landscaping, so she comes inside not only soaked but covered in mud. She comes in, I strip her down, then an hour or so later we start all over. ;)

Afternoon middle-of-the-living-room-floor snoozes.

Bacon and eggs for dinner...brinner!

A fun boutique toy store run today. Lots of outdoor time. A walk to the park on the docket for the morning. Xoxo!

Friday morning

Some bunny woke up a little earlier than normal this morning (5:30ish instead of the usual 7), ate, then promptly fell asleep again. She spent several hours snoring in the swing while A and I played.
N is away this weekend. Bring on the girly fun! Brunch? A trip to the strawberry patch? Shopping? The weekend is our oyster. :)

Xoxo.

3 months

One of the bunnies isn't smiling, but here are both of my babies at 3 months old. A fun comparison. ;)

Mirror antics

Somebunny was wide-eyed and interested this afternoon when she found the mirror.
(Her little fist. I die.)

Wall art fun

I wasn't able to do a stitch of decorating until after EJ was born. Since then I've been messing with this and that in both girls rooms and the bathroom, but ended up focusing most of my efforts on wall art above their dressers. It wasn't a fast process - I probably added one thing a week - but I had fun with it. I really wanted the art in their rooms to be personal, so I tried to DIY as much as I could while mixing in pieces that I already owned.
You can see my reflection in this pic. Hello!

The shelf in A's room was one of the few pieces I purchased new. It's part of the Young House Love line for Target, comes unfinished, and I painted it with the bubble gum pink paint that we nixed for the bathroom. Turns out it looks great in small scale!
- heart canvas is an original piece that was a "retirement" gift when I left C-town in 2010.
- brown knot ball is from Nate Berkus's line for Target. I only bought it last year when A grabbed it from its shelf and gummed it up so badly by the time we checked out that I felt like I had to. Glad to finally put it to good use. :)
- sunglasses were a gift when A was born
- square flower art is an original and was a gift from my parents when I was in high school
- I love you print I downloaded off someone's blog, printed, and filled in with colored pencils
- round frame...still empty :)
- green polka dots is a piece of wrapping paper from Paper Source with photos taped to it. All of the square photos are Instagram pics I had printed.
- green tree photo I purchased from an Etsy artist years ago, it's a tree in our fav park in KC
- black square is actually a magnet w a Gandhi quote on it
- multi-colored square is a tiny canvas that I covered in Washi tape and attached A's hospital bracelet to
- Sunshine print I ordered from Etsy before A was born
I started w the Sunshine print and just slowly added pieces from there, moving left and up as I went.

These photos were taken at the same time of day. The paint color looks totally different in EJ's room...so much less natural light in there.

Her collage is a bit smaller, but also anchored with a Sunshine print.
- N's glockenspiel from his own Kindermusik days (so cool!)
- a wood+fabric E from Hobby Lobby (I think that might be the only item I purchased)
- hearts are two tiny canvases covered in a colorful wrapping paper from Paper Source. I had planned to attach her hospital bracelet to one of them, but kind of like the look without it.
- black circles is a piece of fabric in a frame
- the two square photos are printed Instagram pics
- the shelf used to hang in our master bedroom, and the animal print is an awesome ABC placemat that A received as a gift for her first birthday
- stuffed elephant was the first gift EJ received, it's from Auntie Jill!
- tray I stole from our master bedroom, the lamp is from Target forever ago and I covered it with the reverse side of the same circular fabric that's in the frame. That fabric is black and white and brown, and since I have b&w and grey accents in a room with a big brown dresser and a tan and brown chair, I hoped it would help connect everything together a bit. I made a pillow out of that fabric which is currently sitting on the chair, and ya the worst DIY pillow in the universe. No pictures of that puppy. Ever.
- the Sparkle art was a gift at EJ's shower
- the tiny square frame has a little photo and saying in it about sisters, and I think Jill gave it to me sometime in high school :)

Phew! Probably too much detail, but I wanted to get it all recorded.

I'm sure I will tweak these as time goes on, and I'm excited to keep adding or swapping out for new art that's meaningful to us. For now, both arrangements make me smile. ;)

And because a post isn't complete with punkin pics...hi Little!
Hi Big! (I have fun plans for that wall behind her in this pic. Can't wait to get those moving and share.)
Mmmmwa.

Over the shoulder

Seriously, this child.
I could just eat her with a spoon.

Smiling lessons and doctors

I wanted to specifically snap a few pics on the morning of A's birthday, so I cornered her during an early morning sidewalk chalk session last Wednesday.
I've been working hard on the "say cheese!" direction, but the smiling on command thing is still not something she loves to do. I either get this, the closed-eyes smirk:
Or this, the head down pout:
Or this, the "hey look at that leaf/bird/thing over there!":
I finally got this shot, which I guess will have to do for her bday photo:

In other news, on Thursday both girls had their doc appts...2 months for one, 2 years for the other.
Miss EJ is finally on the chart for her weight, and A's noggin is still breaking records for its circumference. 97th+ percentile! Lots 'o brains in there. Somebunny also took her one shot like a champ, barely flinching, not saying a word, and then immediately asking for crackers once the nurse left the room. Tough cookie.
Two healthy ladies! We're so lucky.

Xoxoxo.

Blue

I am a million posts behind, so I'll start with something easy: a blue-eyed girl eating a birthday cookie. Happy #2, sweet pea!
