Month 1 update

Happy 1 month birthday, sweet pea!
You are officially one month and three days old, and you have changed so much since we brought you home. Where do we even begin?

You've changed physically - your hair is blonder, your eyes are bluer, and you started filling out a couple weeks ago (although you are still a skinny baby). You now have all sorts of tiny folds and crevices that turn bath time into a treasure hunt.
We haven't measured you, but you're definitely getting longer. Although most of your 0-3 month clothes are still way too big, your newborn clothes are getting more snug by the day. Your eye contact, which really began after your first week, has taken another big leap the past few days. You stare and stare, and we stare and stare back.
It has been so fun getting to know the little pieces of your personality. The arching of your back, pursing of your lips (both of which we saw you doing via ultrasound before you were born, which boggles our minds), and wide-handed flailing of your arms.

We laugh daily at you while you're eating. Especially when you feed via a bottle, you get a dazed look in your eyes, pull your arms up to your face, clench your hands into fists, and chug-a-lug. We call it your chugging position. You can go from full-on screaming to chugging position with the addition of a bottle in about .2 seconds.

 (Spit-up alert!)
Speaking of eating, you are a spit-up queen, a not-so-lovely trait that you picked up from your Mama. Sometimes we go through a couple outfits and half a dozen burp cloths a day, and everything in the house from the couch to the dog has been christened with your little explosions.

Your cries have changed, too. Before you would grunt and flail and slowly build up to a soft whimper. A week or two ago you decided to find your voice, and are now capable of going from slightly irritated and grunting to wailing like the world is ending in the blink of an eye. You also have a couple new screeches, just added to your repertoire during the past week, that we're working on interpreting.
You are much pickier lately about your location. Bouncy chair? NO. Carry me around? YES! Actually, you are still a big fan of your bouncy chair, but for some reason your swing is becoming less and less popular. The majority of the time, however, you just want to be held. Infuriating at times when I have spent hours working around the house with you and just want both hands back, but lovely at the same time. I'm sure, quickly, the time will come when snuggling with Mama just isn't a priority.

I'm sure there is so much more to share. Perhaps I'll remember it all when you decide to bless us again with a full night's sleep. :)

On to month 2! Can't wait.
